Microsite: Signs of Life

“The cold is getting to me. Earlier today, standing in Northwest Washington State’s Skagit river, it wasn’t so bad. With some sun coming through the trees, it almost felt like it was getting warmer. That helped. But, now, here in this motel room, it feels like I’ll never warm up. The sheet-thin fire retardant comforter isn’t the least bit comforting. The one and only wall-mounted radiant heater is cranked, but you’d never know it. That thing is a lost cause. So, another cold night. Long johns don’t fail me now…

It’s Just Us

The Edge of the Map at Mount Cain

The Ski Journal is proud to present “It’s Just Us,” a video exclusive documenting Vancouver Island’s Mount Cain Alpine Park, presented by 10 Barrel Brewing.

Tucked deep in huge coastal mountains and run almost completely by volunteers, there are few places like Mount Cain. Visitors to the two-T-bar ski hill will find everything from potlucks in the hand-built lodge, impromptu hockey games on a nearby lake, dance parties in the slope-side trailer park, and some of the best powder skiing in British Columbia. Just remember to bring your skates.

Nike partnered with FFLLC to create a 96-page book cataloging 40 years of inspiration and innovation. While the project started as a softbound book to be used as a promotional piece by their internal sales team, it soon took on a bigger life and was picked up by the entire company. The piece was also produced in a hardbound format as well as a limited edition slipcase version given to the Nike board of directors and company executives. In March, 2013, this book was awarded a Maggie from the Western Publishers Association for best Trade Annuals, Semi-Annuals & Three-Time Publications.

“Honestly, it’s probably been the coolest project I have ever been on in 16 years, honored to get a chance to highlight a company that I have given 16 years to and probably 20 more… Thanks so much to your team, they are unbelievable.”
Bill Farnum, Nike Team Sales Director
